A Short History of Hill House East Country B&B

It is a decision we have never regretted; since 2005 we have welcomed a wide and wonderful range of guests from all over the United Kingdom and from around the world – United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Malta, Mexico, Iran and elsewhere. Many of these guests return to us time and time again, some of them annually, and many we now count as friends rather than guests. More than a few have come to search their own family's heritage in Weardale and the most incredible outcomes of this were to have an American visitor who found his ancestors lived less than a mile away and another who found that his ancestors had actually lived, and died, in Hill House East two hundred years before.

What people seem to value about Hill House East is its peace, tranquillity, warmth and comfort, unhurried pace, personal attention, ample good food and the very beautiful surroundings. Our ambition in creating Hill House East Country Bed and Breakfast was to offer something rather unique – to open up our own home to guests so they could enjoy all its comforts and to offer them all the things that we ourselves would hope to find in a B&B that would make a stay something special. We are not in the English Tourist Board – we are a private and independent Bed and Breakfast, although our facilities and standards are fully monitored; we have the highest award grade for our kitchen hygiene.

So we do hope you will come to Hill House East and find out for yourself why people keep on coming back – we look forward to welcoming and spoiling you.
